About center

Krasnoyarsk centre is one of the first Buddhist centres founded by lama Ole in Russia, it was officially registered in 1991.

First meditations took place at friends’ flats. In 2003 it became possible to start construction of the Buddhist Centre at Pokrovskaya Hill with a wonderful view to the city. From that moment we had a very inspiring task – to build a big house here. This is how Krasnoyarsk Buddhist Centre looks now:

Travel teachers from all over the world come to our centre.  Lama Ole also visits us regularly. You can learn more about various events: Buddhist courses, exhibitions, festivals taking place in Krasnoyarsk and other Russian cities when you come to our centre.

We have organized 3 art exhibitions so far: “Buddhist Painting Art”, “Thangka”, and “Buddhism in the culture of Bhutan, India, and Nepal ” – in 2002, 2004 and 2008. In 2002 we had a Mahamudra course, in 2006 Buddhist Meditation course. In 2008 we organized an international festival “Buddhism Today” in Krasnoyarsk, as well as Buddhist films festival.

The construction of the centre was completed in 2011. The concluding stage of building was mounting a sertog on the roof.  At the end of August, beginning of September there were public lectures by Lama Ole and Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche in Krasnoyarsk. On the first of September Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche gave Diamond Mind empowerment.

In 2002 we had Mahamudra course, in 2006 – Buddhist Meditation course, and in 2014 – a Nyungne course.

Krasnoyarsk. Stupa in the center of Russia.

In February 2014 Lama Ole Nydahl blessed the draft design of the Enlightenment Stupa in Krasnoyarsk, asked to build this Stupa out of stone and make it as beautiful as the one in Salzburg. In November 2014 there was a meeting with Lama Ole in Riga, where Lama confirmed the Stupa height to be 7.60 m plus 1.20 m for the foundation making it 8.80 m in total

A lot of work was done in 2014. We signed a contract for fixed-term land use free of charge for 5 years. We obtained the land plot cadastral certificate. In September, following the Stupa inauguration in Tenovice, Lama Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche gave us the relics for making tsa-tsas. Besides, 3000 tsa-tsas made for the Stupa filling were brought to Krasnoyarsk from Morki in the Republic of Mariy El.

The Stupa Life Tree traveled from Europe to Asia. Lama Ole cut it down especially for our Stupa in the forest nearby the Europe Centre. Then the Tree made its journey from the Bavarian Alps in the South of Germany to the Eastern Sayans having crossed several state borders: from Immenstadt (Germany) to Belgium, Port Antwerpen, then through the North, Norwegian, Barents and White Seas by the Mekhanik Makaryin ship. On November 17th the Tree arrived to Arkhangelsk and then, having crossed half of Russia in a truck, finally reached Krasnoyarsk on December 17th.

The Stupa construction will be guided by Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche. The Stupa will be completed and inaugurated in the summer of 2017.
