About us

This web site is about Karma Kagyu school of Diamond Way Buddhism and about the activity of more then 80 meditation centres and groups established by Lama Ole Nydahl, which are a part of centrally managed religious organization Russian Association of Diamond Way Buddhists of Karma Kagyu Tradition.

Karma Kagyu lineage of transmission is one of the four major schools of Tibetan Buddhism. Since this is the tradition of direct oral transmission of the teachings meditation and contact with a qualified teacher are specially emphasized. Such practice leads to a full and direct experience of mind’s nature. The methods used nowadays in Karma Kagyu were taught to his closest disciples by historical Buddha Shakyamuni.

Later these teachings were transmitted by Padmasambhava, Tilopa, Naropa, Maitripa and many other Indian mahasiddhas, as well as famous Tibetan yogis Marpa and Milarepa. In XII a monk called Gampopa appointed 1st Gyalwa Karmapa to be a lineage holder. Since then Karmapa consciously takes rebirths and remains in this role preserving the Teaching live and strong. Currently responsibility for this continuous transmission lies on His Holiness 17th Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje, Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche and other high Tibetan lamas, who teach in numerous Diamond Way centres around the world.

Karma Kagyu school offers practical teachings applicable in everyday life. They present a range of methods giving an opportunity to open up richness and clarity inherent to mind by means of both meditation and everyday situations.
