Lopön Tsechu Rinpoche

Lopon Tsechu Rinpoche Lopön Tsechu Rinpoche was born in the Kingdom of Butan in 1918. Being 10 years old Rinpoche moved to Nepal together with his mother and two sisters, where he entered upon education and practice under the spiritual guidance of his uncle Lama Sherab Dorje. Lopon Tsechu received complete Buddhist education and had meditated in severe conditions of Milarepa’s caves and those holy places connected to Guru Rinpoche’s life. In 1994 Lopön Tsechu Rinpoche met His Holiness 16th Gyalwa Karmapa – one of his main teachers.

In the following years Lopon Tsechu Rinpoche had become a key figure for Dharma practitioners in Nepal. In 1987 invited by his western students lama Ole Nydahl and his wife Hannah he visited the West for the first time. Since then Rinpoche had been extensively traveling around Europe, both of Americas and Australia, giving teachings and countless initiations. He guided Kalachakra Stupa project in Spain as well as sixteen other Stupas in Europe and Asia.

Lopön Tsechu Rinpoche’s last project was Enlightment Stupa in Spanish city of Benalmadena, the crown of his work. Rinpoche passed away 10th of June 2003 at 85 years old, four months prior to the inauguration of this majestic monument. An incredible power of his compassion people from different nationalities and cultures are still able to sense – it brings benefit to all beings.
