The Traditional Russian Sangha will provide Buddhist rooms in cooperation with the Russian Association of Diamond Way Buddhists of Karma Kagyu Tradition during the Olympic games

19.11.2013

The Winter Games 2014 will take place in February of 2014 in Sochi, Russia. Interfaith centers will open in three Olympic villages. The centers will cater to the major world religions: Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism, Islam and Hinduism. Traditional Russian Sangha will provide Buddhist rooms in cooperation with the Russian Association of Diamond Way Buddhists of Karma Kagyu Tradition during the Olympic games.

Buryat lamas and Buddhist volunteer groups will build meditation halls -prayer rooms- which will be available for every practitioner of Buddhism. The Russian Association has had experience in running similar events. In the courseof  Summer Universiade 2013, the Diamond Way Buddhist group built a meditation hall, which earned an honorary mention.

The Hellenic Olympic Committee chose the Diamond Way Buddhism Foundation for the performance of the Buddhist program at the 2004 Summer Olympic Games. A room with an altar, valuable statues, thangkas and a library was arranged, and an International team of experienced Buddhist teachers held lectures and meditations for Buddhist participants at the Olympics.
