(Russian) Карелия

Karelia is a picturesque corner of our world, a part of Northern Europe overstretching Eastern Finland and the Russian Northwest. The Retreat Center is located in the Russian part of Karelia, on the northwestern bank of Ladoga – the largest lake in Europe – in the midst of Scandinavian nature with all its virtues: the long and winding gulfs piercing deeply the mainland, the islands, rocks, stones, mosses, pine woods and pure air.

The Retreat Center pertains to the Karma Kagyu School of Tibetan Buddhism and was established by Lamas Ole and Hannah Nydahl, western disciples of His Holiness Gyalwa Karmapa, the head of the Karma Kagyu lineage.

Major Buddhist events with Lamas are held here every few years, while the rest of the time the place hosts minor courses and individual retreats.
